About the Instructor:
Eric Oliver,
P.E., CEM, LEED AP

Founder, Earthwide, LLC

A passionate energy conservationist, Eric Oliver is the Founder of Earthwide, LLC, an Energy and Sustainability Master Planning Company in McLean, VA.  Eric has over 30 years of industry experience, starting his career with the federal government to help launch EPA’s Energy Star Buildings Program.    Eric founded EMO Energy Solutions in 1998 to address the growing need for energy efficiency services and ran the Company for 19 years until 2017. With EMO, Eric was among the earliest practitioners of the LEED program, providing energy modeling, commissioning, and LEED consulting services in addition to energy auditing capabilities.  Mr. Oliver has conducted several dozen energy-training seminars, created energy awareness and education campaigns, and presented and moderated at several energy conferences. 

Mr. Oliver holds a Master’s degree in Building Technology and a Bachelor of Architecture from MIT. A licensed professional engineer in Virginia and Maryland, he is a former President of the National Capital Chapter and national Secretary of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), has served on the Board of Directors of the National Capital Region Chapter of the US Green Buildings Council (USGBC-NCR), and is a former Board Chairman of the Virginia Sustainable Building Network (VSBN).  In 2019 Mr. Oliver was inducted into the National Energy Managers Hall of Fame by the Association of Energy Engineers for a lifetime of achievement and leadership.

Program Purpose:

Arkansas Act 1494 (green.arkansas.gov/Documents/Act494.pdf) was established to promote the conservation of energy and natural resources in buildings owned by public agencies and institutions of higher education. This training program is designed to provide building administrators and facility managers the latest technologies for energy efficiency and management.

Program Objectives

 ¨ To educate K12, 2yr and 4yr School Administrators and Facility Managers, State Agency Energy Managers, and Energy Managers for State Institutions on specific aspects of Energy Management for application in their facilities and entities.

¨ To provide hands-on training of software and hardware utilized to monitor, track, and reduce energy usage in public and commercial buildings.
